Despite the breakdown in negotiations last week due to a public dispute, Anthropic has resumed talks with the Pentagon in an attempt to salvage a $200 million AI contract. The dispute centered on CEO Dario Amodei's refusal to allow the military to use Anthropic's AI technology unrestricted for domestic surveillance or autonomous weapons. Although the U.S. Department of Defense ultimately reached an agreement with OpenAI, both sides may seek compromises to avoid the significant upheaval caused by technological transformation.
