Wu Shuo learned that the Bank of Canada, Export Development Canada, Royal Bank of Canada, and TD Bank completed the Samara project experiment, testing the application of distributed ledger technology in bond issuance and settlement. In the experiment, Export Development Canada issued a tokenized bond worth 100 million CAD with a maturity of less than three months, settled through wholesale central bank deposits. The processes of bond issuance, bidding, trading, and settlement were all conducted on a platform based on Hyperledger Fabric. The results showed that this technology has the potential to improve efficiency and reduce settlement risks, but it also introduces issues such as system complexity, governance structures, and regulatory adaptation. Large-scale application in the short term still faces challenges.
