Spanish high-speed train collision disaster leaves 39 dead, Sánchez vows to thoroughly investigate the truth
Recently, Spain experienced a major train accident. Two high-speed trains collided in southern Spain, resulting in at least 39 deaths and dozens of injuries of varying severity. This sudden disaster shocked the entire country. Prime Minister Sánchez quickly rushed to the scene to inspect, stating, “Spanish society is asking what happened, how it happened, and how this tragedy was possible.” Sánchez promised to dedicate all efforts to uncover the truth and find all the answers.
Sánchez’s On-Site Statement Demonstrates Government Determination
Prime Minister Sánchez’s speech at the disaster site reflected the government’s high level of concern. He pointed out that this collision incident raises profound questions about railway safety. Sánchez emphasized that accountability will not stop at the surface; a deep investigation into the root causes of the accident is necessary. As the country’s leader, he decided to abandon his original plan to attend the World Economic Forum in Davos to fully focus on the investigation and rescue efforts. This move underscores the seriousness of the situation and the government’s sincerity.
Severe Casualty Numbers, National Mourning Period Declared
According to the latest data released by Juanma Moreno, President of the Andalusia Autonomous Community, the train collision resulted in 170 injuries, with 15 in critical condition still receiving medical treatment. To show respect for the victims and express national grief, the Spanish government has decided to initiate a three-day national mourning period starting from midnight after the accident. Sánchez stated, “This is an extremely painful day for all of us,” and the government will implement a series of measures to address the crisis and support the victims.
