Apple's Strategic Pivot: Why Cupertino Turned to Google's Gemini for Siri

Apple just announced it will leverage Google's Gemini AI to power this year's Siri overhaul. The Cupertino giant stated: "After careful evaluation, Apple determined that Google's AI technology provides the most capable foundation for Apple Foundation Models."

It's a telling move. Once a pioneer in AI integration, Apple now lags considerably in large language model performance compared to its competitors. By outsourcing to Gemini, the company essentially admits that building world-class AI from scratch—while maintaining their walled-garden ecosystem—proves more challenging than expected.

This shift reflects a broader tech industry reality: AI capability has become the new competitive moat, and partnerships matter more than ever. Whether Apple can truly differentiate with borrowed AI infrastructure remains the real question.

Haha, Apple really broke the spell, using Google's AI to save the situation, this is outrageous --- How can Cook be so shameless to say "the most capable foundation"... Basically, it's just their AI underperforming --- Laughing to death, the once AI pioneer now has to rely on others' wheels, and ecosystem barriers can't stop this reality --- Trying to differentiate with AI infrastructure? Sister, think about how this kind of words came out --- I have to say, Apple was really forced to bow this time... AI is indeed a bottleneck --- It's a bit ironic, is that the price of a closed ecosystem --- Gemini is about to raise prices again, haha --- Looks like the moat is collapsing, having money alone is useless in the AI era

Haha, Apple has really softened now, relying on Google's AI and still calling itself innovative. --- Cook's move... is a bit awkward, the former AI pioneer now depends on Google to survive. --- To put it plainly, Apple is still being squeezed out by AI, and its closed ecosystem has become a burden. --- I just want to know how much premium Apple can still command with such "partnerships"... --- Turning to Google, Apple's moat isn't as deep as it thought. --- The closed-source approach really can't keep up in the AI era, now believe it. --- Does this move also devalue Apple's brand tone? --- Partnerships sound nice, but honestly, it just means their technology is falling behind. --- Apple used to look at Google; now Google is looking at Apple using its own models. The times have really changed.

Apple's recent move is a bit hard to stomach. Using Google's tools and still having to make it so formal... haha --- Basically, it's just their AI underperforming, so they're borrowing from Google --- Wait, Apple using Google AI? Who would have believed that a few years ago --- Not holding up well, the once AI pioneer now has to rely on competitors to save the day --- This is what you call a blow to the ecosystem—falling from a dominant position to needing to borrow technology --- But to be fair, can Apple still make such smart decisions? Admitting they can't do it alone and choosing to cooperate is quite pragmatic --- Walled garden can't cultivate a competitive AI, it's hilarious --- The key question is: can using someone else's AI create differentiation? The answer is obviously no --- This decision by Apple shows one thing—the era of going it alone is truly over

Apple is using Google's AI now, and they really can't hold it together anymore... The once tech pride is also bowing down.
