Platform X's algorithm open-source faces criticism: Why are encrypted posts frequently being blocked?

Abstract generation in progress

【Blockchain Rhythm】 Recently, X platform’s transparency efforts regarding its algorithms have sparked quite a bit of discussion. Elon Musk announced that within 7 days, the new algorithm will be open-sourced, including all code for the recommendation mechanism and advertising algorithms, with updates every four weeks and developer documentation provided. It sounds quite progressive, but community feedback has not been so optimistic.

On-chain detective ZachXBT bluntly stated—X’s recommendation logic is too sensitive. If you casually click on a cross-domain post or like it on the “For You” page, you’ll be bombarded with similar content afterward. Conversely, the accounts you truly follow and the topics you deeply engage with often disappear from the page. What’s the logic behind this?

What’s even more heartbreaking is data revealed by CryptoQuant CEO Ki Young Ju—yesterday, over 7.75 million crypto-related posts were published by bots on X platform, a staggering 1224% increase year-over-year. And what was the result? Posts tagged “cryptocurrency” were ruthlessly suppressed by the platform’s algorithm. A large influx of spam content flooded in, leading to genuine crypto discussions being buried. Is this the effect of open-sourcing?

nah the algorithm's clearly not what they're selling. 775M crypto posts getting nuked while bot spam thrives? that's not transparency, that's just theater. open source code means nothing if the real filtering happens downstream.

Open source my ass, it still ends up blocking the crypto community, this is outrageous.

Open source my ass, isn't it just trying to appear transparent? I'm already used to posts about encrypted content being slaughtered.

Is Elon Musk playing this trick again? Can open-source code whitewash and unblock encrypted posts? I find it hard to believe. An increase of 7.75 million posts and still being suppressed—who would believe that...

What’s the use of open-source algorithms? Turn around and bury crypto content? Wasn’t transparency supposed to be the promise?
