Walrus and the Difference Between Use and Speculation

One pattern that keeps repeating is how quickly infrastructure gets distorted when speculation becomes the main lens. Walrus feels insulated from that, not because it rejects incentives, but because it doesn’t center them. The token exists to support coordination, not dominate the conversation. When the system works, the focus stays on usage, not price. That balance is harder to maintain than it sounds. I’ve seen many projects lose it over time. Walrus appears to be structured to resist that drift, even if it means growing more slowly. That trade-off often looks boring in the short term and wise in hindsight.
