Security Alert: Pepe Meme Coin ($PEPE) Website Compromised by Inferno Drainer Malware
Cybersecurity company Blockaid issued a critical alert on December 4, 2025: the official website of Pepe ($PEPE), the popular meme coin in the crypto community, has been compromised. Malicious code “Inferno Drainer” was injected into the portal, creating an immediate threat to visitors.
How the Attack Works
Inferno Drainer is a sophisticated phishing kit that redirects users to fake pages during transactions. When PEPE holders try to interact with the site (trade, collect airdrops, or perform other operations), they are led to fraudulent forms requesting sensitive information. Once wallet data is captured, the malware automatically drains funds.
Urgent Recommendations for Investors
Do not access the official Pepe website until further official communication. Blockaid recommends that cryptocurrency wallet holders follow these protective measures:
Market Impact
Despite the severity of the vulnerability, the price of $PEPE remained relatively stable, with only a marginal drop of 0.07% in the last 24 hours (data from December 26, 2025). The price resilience suggests that the meme coin community remains confident in the resolution of the issue.
The team behind Pepe is expected to release an official statement soon confirming the steps to remediate the infection. Until then, caution is essential.
