CryptoWorld News reports that the proposed political cryptocurrency donation ban in Canada passed a key parliamentary vote on Friday, gaining bipartisan support and nearing becoming law. The bill C-25, also known as the "Strong and Free Elections Act," passed its second reading in the House of Commons and was referred to committee for further review. The legislation will prohibit political donations made with cryptocurrencies and categorize them alongside hard-to-trace funding methods such as money orders and prepaid payment products. The ban applies to all registered parties, constituency associations, candidates, leaders, and nomination contestants within the federal system, as well as third parties conducting election advertising.
