Just caught something interesting - Tether's physical gold reserves apparently hit over 23 billion dollars now. That's a wild amount of actual bullion backing a stablecoin. Jefferies put out analysis on this and the numbers are pretty striking when you think about it.

The thing is, institutional buying of gold has been steady, but what Tether's been doing with their gold holdings is moving faster than a lot of nation states are accumulating. It's one of those moments where you realize how much capital is actually flowing into crypto infrastructure these days.

Makes you wonder what this means for stablecoin trust models going forward. More physical backing usually sounds good on paper, but it also raises questions about custody, audits, and whether this kind of reserve strategy becomes the new standard. Either way, it's a significant milestone worth paying attention to in the market right now.
