Sometimes I wonder if the whole market's missing something obvious with tmo, or if I'm just completely off base here.

Regarding this matter, we need to look at the on-chain data and not be misled by appearances. My old man also made mistakes back in the day, and now we are using the liquidation price to reverse calculate. Whether it is accurate or not is another story, but at least it is better than guessing blindly.
