Recently, I came across an interesting new public chain - Somnia. It focuses on the direction of "real-time large-scale applications", specifically aiming to make on-chain games and social platforms, which involve high-frequency interactions, truly operational.

Technically, they have made several innovations: first, they have modified the execution speed of smart contracts; second, they have customized a database called IceDB; third, they have successfully run performance scaling using a consensus called MultiStream; and finally, they have added data compression technology. Test data shows that in an environment with 100 distributed nodes, performance can exceed the one million level.

In terms of tokens, SOMI, as the native token of the network, serves three roles: transaction fee payment, staking for security maintenance, and governance voting. Overall, the positioning of this chain is very clear - it aims at consumer applications that require high concurrency and low latency, such as blockchain games and metaverse scenarios. As for how it performs in practice, it remains to be seen when the mainnet is operational.

Another public chain that is going to revolutionize things, I think I've heard this story no less than a hundred times... Testnet 1 million TPS, right? When the Mainnet goes live, it drops to 100,000, and when it hits the market, it experiences a 50% Slump. I'm too familiar with this trap.
